I have a dark circle around the bubble with a round frost in the middle, is that what your small bubble looked like? Also, what did you mean by “type of lens” for your cataract surgery? I hope you are doing better and have had no issues thus far.

I won’t ask the Dr. name…would you mind telling me the city state you had it done? I’m in Las Vegas, need eye surgery and thinking I should go to Mayo, Cleveland Clinic..etc.

Im on week 6 and can see from my eye. Bubble still at the bottom but vision isnt at all what he is describing. Everyone is different, dont let his slow recovery scare you. His recovery isn't the norm. And I'm 65.

Doesbyou get any side effects from this surgery and how many surgery you do? Eies any side effects in vision

Sir how are you fine? I'm fine. Due to Sir injury my eye has macular hole which is very small in size and it's healing by itself but my eye is blurry and in the center. Nala looks and things look crooked Kindly if you have any information for this please let me know if it will be fixed or not.

Thank you so much for all of this information. I am on day one day four. Trying very hard to keep my head down. My doctor said just a couple of days with head down but my eyes feel better when my head if down. There is a developing cataract the Ophthalmologist sees developing. I had my day after appointment and my second appointment is in three more weeks. Your information is so helpful. Thank you. I will definitely stop walking and doing things around the house and let the bubble settle.

Hi, I'm 38 and diabetic. I just found out about a month ago that I have a retinal detachment on my left eye. Now my eye doctor doesn't know how long the detachment has been there for and is currently treating it with photocoagulation. She mentioned that she wants to see how the eye is healing and then go over the risks of getting or not getting the retinal reattachment surgery. She says that sometimes, you can decrease the life span of the eye if you get the surgery, as right now, there's no guarantee they may save my eye. What should I do?

Hello Kevin,I woke up seeing multiple colors and dots in my left eye on 12-24-23 Christmas Eve. I could probably trace it to 2 months previously trimming a large bush and one of the branches hit directly in my left eye. It two months for this issue to flare up. I went to my Eye specialty clinic on 12-26-23 and the Retina Specialist said I had a partially detached retina and I had vitrectomy surgery on 12-28-23. I was able to get most of my vision back in about 2 months but not as good as before. When I am exercising strenuously in the gym I notice extra pressure and some aching in my left eye. It goes away after a day or two. I still have good peripheral vision but the eye does not feel right but at least I can see at about 80 per cent of what I was able to see before.

Kevin, I can’t tell you how much you sharing your experience has helped me! I mirror your experience. I am in my 4 th week of recovery for the exact same procedure. I have also resumed my workouts with modifications. I remain hopeful and positive about my recovery and will continue to follow you. Thank you again!!!

How is your eye now?

I'm currently at 14 weeks. Since my retina was almost completely detached and based on the location of the detachment I was told not to bend over, lift anything heavy and lay only on my left side opposite to my right eye. They called it positioning. Even with your eye covered you still see the outline of the bubble moving and it can definitely throw off your balance. The retina has reattached but I still can't see well out of my right eye. I've been told by my retina doctor it's most likely a cataract but not to consider surgery until well over 6 months since the eye has already been through trauma. It's an ordeal to go through for sure but the only other option was to lose all sight in the eye. Wish the best for anyone facing the surgery or currently in recovery.

Different people have different recovery times, or so it seems. I initially had regular cataract surgery back in 2017. Both eyes, one month apart. Those surgeries went ok, but about six months later, I had a retinal detachment in one eye. I guess when they do that repair they also do a vitrectomy. Anyway, after all those surgeries I recovered quickly. Two or three weeks later and I was back to 20/20. The aggravating part was the first week or so, with all the eye drops.

I had started to have problems focusing clearly with my good eye, and found that bt covering my recovering eye, it helped to clear my vision. Then, you stated you experienced the same, and it relieved the anxiety i was experiencing. I have faith that my vision will be restored as yours was so i can resume my normal activities--and be able to drive--soon. God bless you!

U didn’t go in the fort in el morro and showed where a cannonball entered the fort. That’s the only spot that a ball entered

13 years & 3 days in since the terrorist (Sunir Garg) did surgery on me at Wills Eye. Wouldn't recommend WillEye to anyone, most incompetent doctors. Fir anyone that suffers a Retina detachment I wish you the best.

I’ve just watched all of your videos, very interesting and thanks for sharing them. I’m currently 10 days after surgery and I do have some vision which is quite clear at the top away from the bubble but I have the distorted wavy lines you mention.

Thank you this is very helpful. I'm on week 2 since my surgery. I had lattice degeneration and had a retinal detachment and had all the same procedures done. My surgeon was pleased with how things are healing as I had a recheck appointment yesterday. I had to keep my head down for 7 days but he said the longer I could be face down the better. I was able to borrow a table that was from my local chiropractors,also my work place, and did 10 days. Lots of audio books. Im able to drive but as you pointed out my peripheral vision on my left eye is nill. I feel confident after watching your videos that all will be well abu it's a slow recovery. That is why I don't like eye surgeons. Being a physician, I try to keep myself away from them as possible I can. They keep the info for themselves. As if they are sharing secret governmental info. The other option is they are emotionally dry to hear what the patient says and share that experience with other patients. Wish they themselves do not experience what we experience. That would be too late for us.

I also have a glow on the side of my head. I had a question! Do you still get flashes. I get these random flashes in bright light particularly in the sun. No one is able to explain to me why they occur.

My EM Retinal Surgery update from 10 mins ago. The "C" word should have read as "P". I also had a Peel. Why could I see my surgery being done, and clearly hear every word too. I even remember the word "buckle" being used. Why didn't I receive more anaesthesia??

I'm adding to my experience from about 20 mins. ago when I had to go to ED. During my EM retinal detachment surgery, I had a gas bubble, and my cataract done too..I had a word that begins with the letter "C". I saw all of the surgery in detail, and kept asking for more anaesthesia, but didn't get any. I had to keep my arms straight and make tight fists, as I was feeling shaky and sick. Immediately after my surgery I started to go into shock. This went away when I had a cup of tea in Recovery. That's the second part of my story. Thankyou for sharing your story and your journey

Thank you so much for these videos. I don’t know how you made the replications of what your vision was like at different stages, but they were very accurate. Im finding it difficult to explain what my vision is like when my eyes look perfectly normal to the person I’m trying to explain my situation to. I have had three retinal detachments in the past 12 years! I have an eye disease called kerataconus which complicates things for me. Ten years ago I had cataract surgery in my left eye and they did a lens implant at the same time. A few months later, my retina detached and I went thru the gas bubble ordeal. I was just feeling like I had recovered from that - and my retina detached AGAIN. This time they put an oil in my eye and that recovery process took 6 months! Fast forward to now - in October 2023 I developed a cataract in my right eye and went thru cataract surgery and a lens implant. Then, in March 2024 my retina detached in that eye! I’m currently 4 weeks out from that surgery. I have heard that a detached retina often leads to cataract surgery. Tried to locate 0:33 your videos about cataract surgery but couldn’t find them. I’m wondering what cataract surgery is going to entail (IF I do need that surgery) since I’ve already had a lens implant and cataract surgery (in both eyes). 😬

Just had it done. Day 3. I felt like Mike Tyson beat the crap out of me. Cannot see. Uber blurry. But my Doc said it went "Beautifully". Appreciate the video

Hi Kevin, thanks for the videos. I had my left eye done 4 times a few years ago(6 or 7), finally with a buckle and am now in week 2 of vitrectomy on my right eye. On the subject of the eye patch my understanding is that keeping one eye covered blocks brain signals trying to compensate one eye with the other. The brain loses track of where the eye is.
